Rodney Glasgow on the future of education: a BVR Incubator recap
At the very first Virtual BVR Incubator, Rodney Glasgow—an innovative educational leader and Head of School at Sandy Spring Friends School—led a conversation on the future of teaching and learning.
We kicked off our Virtual BVR Incubator series with Rodney Glasgow—an innovative educational leader and the Head of School at Sandy Spring Friends School.
To start the evening, Glasgow reflected on the origins of modern education and the trends he sees emerging. He shared:
Statistics on how students and educators are using artificial intelligence in the classroom, and encouraged attendees to consider how AI can be a tool rather than an obstacle;
How and why Gen Alpha’s learning style (the generation currently rising through the school system) necessitates innovation;
The importance of empathy as educators—and emphasized that students need pressure to be relieved before they can engage in rigorous work.

Following Glasgow’s presentation, attendees asked questions and shared their thoughts; the resulting dialogue addressed the current challenges of teaching and learning as well as potential solutions.
A big thank you to all who attended the event, and to Rodney Glasgow for leading this important and inspiring conversation!
Rodney Glasgow was a featured speaker at the 2023 Future FocusED Conference, and we are excited to announce he will be joining us once again in 2024! See the full speaker line-up here.
